Zomble Bee

I’ve begun work on an indie game called Zomble Bee, with the guys at +AsDesignedGames – a small group based in Dundee -  here’s a selection of character concept artwork for potential Zombees.

Some of these I played around with each stylistically to see where they led. Trying to keep them brief to convey the idea quickly.

In other news, I really need to calibrate my monitors – its freaking me out how inaccurate they might be. Any potential help with that would be awesome.

Chasing the Dream

A story beat painting I crafted in the past, of the character Frogboy, attempting to catch a great almighty fish. Sombre palette. Reviewing this, I feel I could push the values a lot more to create a more dramatic image.

I found an interesting way to mimic Mucha style hair rendering, and I’m tempted to produce a painting piece in a similar style.

I’ve been working on a low poly model titled ‘Monk’ over the weekend (Thurs-Saturday). The intent is to use him for a 3rd person action/adventure demo to test in-game animation sets, potentially in UDK or otherwise.

Next Level Dundee 2010

Next Level Dundee 2010, marks my second involvement in the 5 day event, where teams of 5 or so are tasked with the challenge to create some kind of digital media product within that timeframe. The brief was 'THE ELEMENTS'.

As Team A, we created a short animation depicting a deathrow inmate attempting to smoke his last meal, an almost empty pack of cigarettes, against the elements. A great bunch of people to work with!

The animation was created using Adobe Photoshop, After Effects and Premiere. Stock photography was utilised from cgtextures.com.

Half Shell

I drew the line art for this piece over at the exhibition for the Unit 15 Art Group over on Dundonald St. Which sadly came to an abrupt end after the weekend, and no longer operates.

They now hold on to the drawing itself and I took a quick pic of it with the camera for reference, and I thought it would be fun to render and light him.

For the record, I have no idea why I drew a Ninja Turtle. Maybe something about the place cried out to the inner child in me. Colour?
